Summary of the Brief
The National Robotarium is a collaboration between Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh and is one of five innovation hubs created from £751M investment in the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Region Deal. At its core is the creation of the new £22.4M purposebuilt facility on Heriot-Watt University’s Campus.
With a strong focus on entrepreneurship and job creation, the National Robotarium will offer an ecosystem for industry collaboration where humans and robots work in partnership.
The Research
I explored research papers and considered the synergy of art and science. After stumbling across paper engineering, I listened to presentations from engineers at Nasa for further inspiration and clarity on their use of the art of origami.
The Approach
An identity with a strong rationale that is understood to be a collaborative interaction between humans, robots and their environments at all levels.
With the design solution and approach approved by stakeholders, the next stage was to implement the brand for multiple platforms and assets.
