As part of the bicentenary celebrations at Heriot-Watt, a series of 3 trails are to be set up creating an interactive walking map for each at Edinburgh Campus.
The ‘Discovery Trail’ is one of these trails. Along the ‘Discovery Trail’ there will be posts with brass rubbing plaques and QR codes, linking to further information and activities for young people to engage with online.
The trail will also be included in the Edinburgh Science Festival.
The design solution
The client had supplied some of the brass rubbings using clipart. I felt it was important to create the design in a joined up approach.
My solution was to create the illustrative graphics that linked through print and digital assets.
An immersive experience
Every post along the trail features a QR code alongside the plaque, taking you on a further learning experience to further facts and downloadable activities.
Project deliverables
Folder and leaflet containing A4 paper for ‘frottage’
Plaque artwork for manufacture
Web banners for online experience featuring each post
